“Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, says she was the most trolled person in the world in 2019. When talking to a podcast titled ‘teenage therapy’, Meghan Markle talked about how she battled trolls on the internet – something that resonates with many teenagers nowadays. During the episode, she said: ‘I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world – male or female’. The interview was conducted with her husband, Prince Harry, on a podcast to raise awareness for world mental health day on Saturday 10 October. She was quoted saying: “Now eight months of that I wasn’t even visible. I was on maternity leave or with a baby but what was able to just be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable. That’s so big you can’t even think about what that feels like because I don’t care if you’re 15 or 25 if people are saying things about you that aren’t true what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging.” The podcast itself is hosted by 5 friends in California, all of them teenagers themselves. Talking about the episode on their Instagram, they said: “In honor of World Mental Health Day, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down with us for a conversation about prioritizing mental health, removing the stigma around the issue, and how we can all contribute to a healthier world: physically, mentally, emotionally, holistically,”. The group posted a photo with Harry and Meghan, all wearing masks. They also said: “We cannot emphasize enough how honored we are to be able to bring you this important conversation. We hope you enjoy it and find something you can apply to your own life. Take care of yourself, you deserve to be loved.” Meghan spoke mostly about isolation, which is something that many people are facing especially with the current lockdown measures. Harry also said that it is very important to talk about your mental health, as it is not a sign of weakness, and that meditation has helped him overcome his negative experiences.”
