“The residents of a small town in Switzerland were surprised when they began to experience some strange weather: Chocolate snow! On Friday 14th August this year, the Lindt factory in Olten, Switzerland, reported an error with its ventilation system. This error happened in an important area of the factory, where roasted cocoa nibs are made from pieces of crushed cocoa beans. The cocoa made its way into the fans, which was then pushed into the air by strong winds. This wind then helped the cocoa to cover the entire town. Pictures were shared on social media of cars covered in a light brown dust, as well as streets and windows. The company Lindt posted on Twitter: “Whoops! We made it snow chocolate dust around our factory in Switzerland. The vents are fixed now, but we have a few ideas for Christmas”. Lindt has offered to pay for any cleaning costs that should come up, but no-one in the town of Olten is complaining! The factory and the production of chocolate has continued normally since then, and Lindt said that the particles are completely harmless to both people and the environment, as they are made of completely natural cocoa. Many people on social media have joked about how it sounded like a dream come true, and many people said that they would love to move to Olten if something like this happens again!”
