Part 1:
“Hello and welcome back to Scrambled Eggs Radio! Thanks for tuning in. It’s advice hour with me your host, Steve Smith! Put your feet up after an exhausting day and enjoy what we hope will be a very fulfilling show. On today’s show we’ll be hearing from a lady in York who’s feeling absolutely desolate with her life. Helping people is so gratifying! We’ll also take callers throughout the programme. Our switchboard is now open, so give us a bell and let us know how you’re feeling. Have you ever considered calling in but feel too awkward? Don’t worry, we won’t bite!”
Part 2:
“So it’s time for our first caller, and we have Lisa on the line now. Good evening Lisa, welcome to the show!
– Thank you for having me.
– I understand that you’ve been having some problems Lisa..
– Well… yes.. I.. uhm
– Don’t worry, I know it’s difficult to talk on the radio, it can make people feel a little awkward, but I promise you we won’t bite!
– Ok well, well lately I’ve just been feeling absolutely desolate. My son has moved away for University, my daughter left the year before, and now I’m all alone in the house when I come home. Not only that, but my work is utterly exhausting! I’m stuck in an office cubicle all day glued to a screen. Yesterday I was so full of worry and stress that I knocked over a cup of coffee and it went all over my desk, I felt so clumsy! Then I go home and just watch TV. Life feels so meaningless.
– Oh I’m so sorry to hear about this Lisa, thank you for sharing with us, you’ve been very brave to talk about this. I think what you really need is a new hobby. Have you ever consider taking up yoga?
– Hmm, a good idea could be to do a little more physical activity, but yoga’s never really appealed to me.
– Well, it might be a good idea for you to get out more and see new people. Have you ever heard of geocaching?
– Oh, no, what’s that?
– It’s such a gratifying and fulfilling outdoor hobby, I strongly suggest that you try it. Let me tell you all about it….
Part 3:
“Some of you may remember our next caller from a show a couple of months ago, Lisa from York. Last time we heard her very honest and moving tale about the despair in her life. Let’s catch up with her now. Lisa, welcome back.
– Thanks for having me back on!
– You’re welcome Lisa. Tell us, how have things been going?
– Well, your advice was absolutely life-changing! Since you said that I should probably try geocaching, I’ve been doing it three times a week! Although it was a little awkward to go walking around with strangers at first, I was determined to see it through and I’ve met so many interesting people. At last I have a fulfilling hobby! It’s so satisfying when I find a hidden package, working together with my new friends. We all get on so well. Plus, I really love setting up other packages for people to find. It’s so gratifying to think about the look on their faces when they find them!
– And those desolate feelings?
– Oh I’ve gotten used to my son being away now, and my concentration is so much better at work now I feel refreshed from my hobby – no more clumsy accidents! I’ve managed to really cut down on the amount of time I waste in front of the TV. My energy levels already feel higher due to the extra exercise I’m doing, it doesn’t even feel that exhausting to go to work anymore! It might be a good idea for all your listeners to try it!
– Haha well thank you so much for your update, we’ll be right back after the news with Richard from Leicester, who has a problem with his tennis partner…”
