Today’s word of the day is: Awe
Awe is a word to express when someone is shocked, generally in a good way, by something or someone. We generally say someone is “in awe” of something/one, or that you were “left in awe” because of a specific event.
Let’s get to the examples:
- Samantha, age 17, was in awe that people worked without computers just a few decades ago.
The view of the mountain left us all in awe. I was speechless!
- Jeff’s skateboarding skills left spectators in awe. He is the best they’ve ever seen!
We also have the word “Awesome” which derives from the word awe. If you are left in awe by Jeff’s skateboarding skills, then his skills are awesome.
4. Wow, look at all the things I can do on this iPad! It’s an awesome toy!
Can you think of 5 things you’ve done or seen recently that were awesome?
Think about your spouse or best friend. What is something you could do in the future that would leave them in awe?
